Transfers & Activities

Your road trasnfers are provided by your accommodation. As well the transport used for your activities (game drives) and transfers from airstrips to lodges is provided by the lodges we use. They use 4wd Landcruisers with pop-up roof with a maximum of 6 people.

Since this is a private tour you can choose your own departure time throughout the year subject to the availability of accommodation and transport.


The scheduled flights to and from Murchison Falls only go on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Therefore you will have to start this tour on either a Thursday or a Saturday.

NOTE: Flights to Murchison Falls NP have a minimum of 4 passengers. If you are traveling with less then 4 people, and you want your flight to be guaranteed, we will have to charge you for the remaining tickets. Of course, we will refund the extra tickets, the moment more people book your flight.

The bookings with the hotels mentioned in the program depend on availability. Reservations will only be made after your booking. In case the mentioned hotels are not available during the requested period, we will do our utmost best to book a hotel in the same class for you (of course we will only do this after consulting you). It is not possible to ‘reserve’ gorilla and chimpanzee permits. Therefore, we can only buy them after your booking and down-payment and also here it all depends on availability.

Day 1

Karibu Uganda!

A representative of Lake Victoria Hotel will be present at Entebbe Airport to pick you up from your flight. He will take you to the semi-luxurious Lake Victoria Hotel in Entebbe. This lovely colonial style hotel is spacious and elegant and located only four kilometers from the airport. Depending on your time of arrive, you will meet on arrival or the early next morning a representative of Matoke Tours who will brief you about your trip and will give you all the necessary documents. Day 2

To Queen Elizabeth National Park

Today after your breakfast you will be taken to Entebbe Airport to catch your flight to Kasese (Queen Elizabeth N.P.). Departure time from Entebbe: 12.30 PM Arrival time in Kasese: 14.25 PM * Timings may vary depending on aircraft routing. Upon arrival in Kasese, you will be picked up from the airstrip by a representative of Mweya Lodge, your accommodation for the next two nights. Mweya Safari Lodge is located in the heart of Queen Elizabeth National Park on the Mweya peninsula. Watch wildlife from your private veranda and fall asleep to the roaring of lions on the distant savannah. Day 3

Game drive & boat safari Kazinga Channel

Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s second largest park, located at the base of the majestic Rwenzori Mountain range, adjacent to Lake Edward and Lake George. Lions are often sighted both inside and at the entrance to the park. A very early wake-up today as you will have a game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. A little before sunrise coffee, tea and donuts will be served in the lounge before you head out for a long game drive in time to see the first rays of light. Early mornings or late afternoon the animals are generally the most active. After lunch, you will have a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel which joins Lake George and Lake Albert. Here, you will see a lot of hippos (more than you can possibly imagine!), as well as a variety of other animals which come to the waterhole to drink or bathe. You can expect to see: buffalo, crocodile, bathing elephant, and a range of beautiful birds. This will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your tour. Day 4

To Ishasha – tree-climbing lions

Today you will be transferred to the southern part of Queen Elizabeth N.P. This area is called Ishasha and is famous for its tree-climbing lions. To escape from the heat during the day, the Lions learned how to climb the fig trees. If you’re lucky you might spot a few during your afternoon game drive. After the game drive, you will be taken to Ishasha Wilderness Camp, a very nice and luxurious lodge with wonderful views over the savannah and a river packed with a hippo! Day 5

Game drive - To Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

This morning you will have another game drive and chance to spot the tree climbing lions. After lunch at Ishasha Wilderness Camp, you will be transferred to Buhoma in Bwindi, home of the mountain gorillas. Comfortable cottages have been carefully built, each with its own private verandah, allowing wonderful views of the forest canopy of the National Park. Inside the spacious cottages, you will find comfortable beds, a well-appointed en suite bathroom with a flushing toilet and a hot shower. An elevated lounge area, complete with bar and dining facilities, offers a cozy, comfortable environment to discuss the day’s activities around the fireplaces which add atmosphere and warmth in the cool evenings. Day 6

Gorilla Trekking

Your gorilla trekking will be an exciting journey along forested slopes, entwined vines, bushes and bamboo before you eventually reach the gorillas’ habitat. En-route, your guide will point out signs of previous gorilla activity, including dung, nests and chewed bamboo shoots. The time taken to track the gorillas can take as little as 2 hours to as much as 7 hours before one returns! Once the gorillas have been located, your group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. Coming face-to-face with a mountain gorilla is a truly humbling and emotional experience. This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get up close and personal with Uganda’s very own ‘Gorillas in the Mist’. Accommodation Buhoma Lodge Meal Plan Breakfast, packed lunch, dinner

Day 7

To Murchison Falls NP via Entebbe

Today after your breakfast you will be taken to the Kihihi airstrip and you will continue your trip to Murchison Falls NP in the north of Uganda. There is no flight direct from Kihihi to Murchison Falls NP, so you will fly via Entebbe. Departure time from Kihihi: 09.45 AM Arrival time in Kasese: 11.25 AM Departure time from Entebbe: 12.30 PM Arrival time in Murchison: 13.30 PM * Timings may vary depending on aircraft routing. On arrival, you will be transferred to Bakers Lodge, your amazing accommodation for the next two night. This intimate, safari styled lodge is set within a large private area that has been cleared of all the dense undergrowth to reveal beautifully trimmed grassed areas, large shady trees and wetland areas hosting abundant birdlife along the water’s edge. The views onto the river are vast and magnificent with islands hosting nesting egret birds, elephants bathing and pods of hippos regularly viewed. All cottages have uninterrupted river views and there is a swimming pool too. Day 8

Murchison Falls National Park

Get ready for an early wake-up today! In the early morning hours, animals are the most active; the sun is not yet so bright and temperatures are cooler. It offers the best time to spot wild animals. After an early breakfast, you will go on a game drive to explore the northern part of the park. “Come eye-to-eye with the African animal kingdom”: elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, different species of antelopes and many tropical birds may all be spotted during the game drive. So keep your eyes open, they are all there in Murchison Falls National Park! In the afternoon you will take a boat safari up the Nile River to Murchison Falls. Carefully watched by crocodiles, hundreds of hippos, buffaloes, water birds, monkeys, and all the other thirsty wildlife that the Nile attracts, you will reach the base of the 43-meter high Falls which approach with a thunderous sound. After your boat safari, you go back to your accommodation, where you will have some time to relax

Day 9

Top of the falls and back to Entebbe

In the morning you will drive to the top of Murchison Falls. Here you will have some time to walk around. From here you have a wonderful view and fantastic photo opportunities! After your visit to the top of the waterfalls, you will go back to your accommodation where you will have an early lunch (or if you prefer you can request for a packed lunch). Then the time has come to leave Murchison Falls NP. You will be transferred to the airstrip from where you take your flight back to Entebbe. Departure time from Murchison Falls 13.45 PM Arrival time in Entebbe 16.30 PM * Timings may vary depending on aircraft routing. From Entebbe, you can connect with your international flight back home.
